About Me: Building a Safer Future in Construction
Welcome to The Jobsite Journal. My name is Tom Soler, and I serve as a Client Executive on the construction team at Holmes Murphy. This blog is a reflection of my commitment to the construction industry—specifically, to the safety, growth, and success of the people who make it all happen.
I was raised in Lino Lakes, Minnesota, the youngest of three siblings. I attended Hill-Murray High School, where I was actively involved in athletics, playing both football and basketball. My passion for leadership and teamwork continued at Saint John’s University, where I studied Global Business & Leadership and Exercise & Health Science. During my time there, I played football for four years, starting at various positions on the offensive line and serving as team captain in my senior season.
Outside the classroom, I worked as a strength and conditioning coach for student-athletes in grades 6–12 at Annandale and Minnewaska High Schools. These experiences taught me the value of preparation, mentorship, and investing in others’ development—principles that continue to guide my professional life.
My journey into construction risk management began with an internship at Holmes Murphy before my senior year of college. I consider myself fortunate to have discovered a career that aligns so closely with my values. What drew me in—and continues to drive me—is the mission of ensuring that every worker on a jobsite returns home safely. That belief is personal to me. My brother-in-law is a pipe layer, and the thought of him—or anyone—being harmed due to preventable risks is deeply unsettling. I approach every jobsite as if someone I love were working there.
At Holmes Murphy, I’ve found a team of experts who are not only knowledgeable but also incredibly supportive. I’m early in my career, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by professionals who have worked for carriers, contractors, and across the industry. Their mentorship allows me to grow with confidence, knowing that I have access to the best minds in the business.
Outside of work, I’m an avid Minnesota sports fan, and I enjoy golfing, working out, running, swimming, lifting, biking, and occasionally hunting. I also play the guitar, and above all, I value time with my family—they are my closest friends and greatest source of support.
I launched The Jobsite Journal to deepen my expertise and serve as a resource for others in the industry. My goal is to share insights, spark conversations, and help construction businesses create safer, more efficient environments. This blog is not just about information—it’s about impact. I want readers to know that my commitment to safety and risk management is sincere, and that I’m here to help.
Thank you for visiting. I look forward to learning and growing alongside you.
